Yesterday was the final session of our THRIVE SELF-DEFENCE program @mougins.school Our final exercise was a simulated attack from a bigger opponent (me) in a controlled and safe environment to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have been learning over the past few weeks, including:
-MANAGING AND CONTROLLING FEAR being jostled and pushed around in a random way and having to react to that. Often in real life attacks, someone without training would freeze and not be able to act. By doing drills like this responsibly and safely we train a persons nervous system to stay relatively calm, make rational decisions and respond appropriately .
-HEAVY STONE making themselves dead weight and very difficult to drag away
-THE IRON CROSS using leverage and balance to keep a larger opponent away
-STRIKING-using the body’s natural weapons specifically Knees and elbows
-EYE GOUGING which we managed to simulate using the protective helmet.

As you can see we had a great performance from the students and we all had a lot of fun, me a little less🤕😂

Delighted to have Q-Bomb @qhama.hina joining me as co-instructor on our upcoming, intensive SELF-DEFENCE FOR TEEN GIRLS course to be held @mougins.school from the 14th-18th April.

Me and Q have been training together for a year now, hundreds of hours at 5.30am. He has soaked it all up and is an excellent pad holder (I am hyper picky) as well as have a right hand that would turn your jaw to powder.

With his pro Rugby background, he has bought a lot to the table in our strength and conditioning sessions and is a great motivator.

TEEN GIRLS SELF DEFENCE WORKSHOP-14-18 APRIL @mougins.school

90% of victims know their attacker according to a study carried out by the university of Glasgow.

In another study, the biggest of its kind at the university of Oregon, it was established that girls who had trained in self defence were 3x less likely to be the victim of Sexual assault.

At @smart.defencesystem we train smarter, not harder, equipping our students with both the theory, physical and psychological skills to stay safe and avoid potential conflicts. By understanding and anticipating threats via Situational Awareness we strive to avoid a situation before it has the chance to turn physical, physical intervention is a last resort. We teach the most violent effective strikes using the bodies natural weapons to the bodies natural weak points.

The techniques and training that we employ has been pressure tested in real life, dangerous situations, thankfully with a favorable and safe outcome for the @smart.defencesystem students.

90% OF FEMALE SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS KNOW THEIR ATTACKER.

According to a 2018 study by the University of Glasgow.

A common misconception is that the main threat of Sexual violence comes from the boogeyman stranger hiding in the alleyway. However the above is true. An attacker is often a partner or ex, aquintance or even family member and the victim will often have entered the location of an attack of their own free will without suspicion.

At @smart.defencesystem we strive to educate our students in theory and soft skills as much as in physical skills, ideally physical skills would never be needed as with the correct education and self awareness an immediate physical threat can be avoided.

PRIVATE SMALL GROUP SELF-DEFENCE TRAINING:
We are increasingly doing more small tailor made self defence groups for corporate, yacht and school-age groups.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?
Our syllabus is somewhat unique in the space, blending classroom based theory and case studies with physical drills and techniques.
We:

👊Emphasise preventative protocols such as Situational Awareness, assertive body language and NLP (neuro linguistic programming) techniques to recognize and avoid a threat before it becomes a dangerous situation.

👊Study and reference case studies produced by the world's leading universities and academics on the subject of violence predators and victims.

👊Teach a tailor made physical syllabus using a hand picked mixture of traditional and reality/military based combat systems.

Our systems and protocols have (unfortunately) been tested and applied in real life dangerous situations where they have proved effective and led to a safe outcome.

OUR EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

🥷BTEC Diploma in Self-Defence instruction-A course designed and led by UK ex-military and special forces personnel.

🥷England Boxing coaching diploma with safeguarding and child protection training.

🥷37 years training experience in combat systems including Muay Thai, Boxing, Ju-jitsu and reality/military based systems.

🥷PGCE (UK) qualified teacher status + 20 years teaching experience in combat sports, self defence and strength and conditioning.
